History major Maria Cipro ’25 (Medina, Ohio) was recently selected by her peers to be Marietta College’s student body president for the 2023-24 academic year.
“I am deeply honored to be elected as Student Body President. I have absolutely fallen in love with this campus and its surrounding community, and I want to do my best to represent and give back,” Cipro said. “These past two years have been transformative for me in my academics, as a leader, and as an individual. I hope to continue to build our campus through engaging events and collaborations with different departments and clubs that grow with our community.”
Cipro will lead the Student Government Association (SGA) Executive Board, which includes four other students.
“I will work to ensure that there is proper communication between the students, faculty, administration, alumni, and everyone in between,” Cipro said. “I seek to support all individuals in their endeavors and strive to push for student concerns to create active change in a timely manner. I am here to serve the student body and make sure that they feel supported and heard.”
Joining Cipro on the executive team are Biochemistry major Shayna Allshouse ’26 (West Salem, Ohio) as Vice President, Finance major Connor Reed ’26 (Lewis Center, Ohio) as Treasurer, Biochemistry major Emily Comiskey ’26 (Shirley, New York) as Secretary, and Health Science major Auva Zandi ’24 (Dublin, Ohio) as Parliamentarian.
SGA’s mission is to advocate for students and foster positive change on campus and be a liaison between students, faculty, and the administration.
