Dave Lucas, Ohio’s poet laureate, will be a guest reader at 7:30 p.m., Monday, October 22nd, in Marietta College Alma McDonough Auditorium.
A Cleveland native, Lucas wants to show Ohioans how poetry is present in everyday life and how to enjoy it. That doesn’t mean running out and buying a bunch of poetry books; it means changing the way you think or feel about words and lyrics.
Lucas’s first collection of work, Weather, won the 2012 Ohioana Book Award for Poetry. Lucas earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from John Carroll University in 2002, a Master of Fine Arts degree from the University of Virginia in 2004 and a Ph.D. from the University of Michigan in 2014.
He is a co-founder and co-curator of the Brews + Prose reading series at Market Garden Brewery in Cleveland.
This event is free and open to the public. A reception will follow in the McDonough Gallery.
