Marietta College student actors in Theater One-Act Festival

Musical Theatre majors Rose Wardlow ’25 and Paige Doseck ’25 know the impact that last year’s Day of Giving had on their experiences as students at Marietta College.

“Because of Day of Giving last year, we were able to get a new set of ear mounts, mic packs and belts, and other elements to replace the outdated ones we were using… the quality difference made shows a lot smoother especially in our recent outdoor performances,” Wardlow said.

Day of Giving is a 24-hour fundraising campaign that starts at midnight leading into Friday, February 14th, and ending at 11:59 p.m., and now, donor participation matters more than ever. The “Trustee Challenge” sets a goal of reaching at least 1,000 donors. Achieving this goal means the Board of Trustees will match over $200,000 in gifts. This challenge doubles the impact and support that Marietta College students will receive. A link will be posted at midnight on the College's website and social media pages, and donors can also visit www.marietta.edu/give to learn how to show their support during Day of Giving.

“This funding is so important for unexpected needs, utilizing these donations for whatever is needed is a big help… as a performer, the equipment that we were able to purchase was so important and allowed for my performance to sound like myself, instead of using old equipment that makes me sound unlike myself because that’s the worst feeling ever,” Doseck said.

Both seniors agreed that their confidence, relaxation, and trust was boosted by these donations, and the new equipment and technology has added to their level of creativity, passion for their art, and their overall pride.

“My goal when I became Director of Annual Giving, was to really highlight and focus on the direct impacts that gifts have toward the Marietta Fund, and what that actually means for the student experience,” said Branden Chambers’11, Director of Annual Giving in the Office of Advancement.

This year, Day of Giving is focused on four areas of The Marietta Fund:  Student Priorities, Student Aid, Pioneer Club, and Women in Sports. However, gifts can be designated to whichever team or program the donor prefers.

“Our alumni, faculty, staff, parents and community have a longstanding tradition of supporting our students,” Chambers said. “The 9th annual Day of Giving is an opportunity to collectively show them how much we care about their education and their experiences as Marietta College students. And thanks to the Trustee Challenge, we can double our impact.”
