The Esbenshade Series and Marietta College proudly present The Narrative Quintet, featuring acclaimed saxophonist Adam Larson, on Thursday, January 16. The performance will occur at the Peoples Bank Theatre, with doors opening at 7:00 p.m. and the show beginning at 8:00 p.m.
Free tickets for this exceptional evening of jazz will be available to the public starting Monday, January 6, at 10:00 a.m. Tickets can be obtained online or by phone through the Peoples Bank Theatre Box Office.
Larson, a distinguished American saxophonist, composer, educator, and author, brings his exceptional talent and extensive experience to Marietta. A graduate of The Manhattan School of Music with degrees in jazz performance, Larson spent 11 years immersed in New York City's vibrant jazz scene before making Kansas City his home.
Currently serving as an Entrepreneurship instructor at the Kansas City Art Institute, Larson's academic credentials include previous positions at the UMKC Conservatory, University of Kansas, and The Kansas City Art Institute. Despite his relocation, he maintains strong ties to New York City's jazz community, regularly performing alongside some of the genre's most acclaimed musicians.
As a globally recognized artist and educator, Larson has conducted masterclasses focusing on music business, improvisation, and composition at more than one hundred universities worldwide. His impressive discography includes eight albums as a leader, and he maintains an active schedule as both a touring musician and clinician, sharing his original compositions and educational expertise across the globe.
This performance promises to be an unforgettable evening of contemporary jazz. It will feature Larson's innovative compositions and masterful improvisation alongside The Narrative Quintet's accomplished musicians.

About the Esbenshade Series: This event has been funded by the Frederica G. Esbenshade Memorial Fund, which provides annual income to bring lectures, performing artists, and programs of diverse nature to the campus and community at large. The endowed fund was established in 1980 by Harry H. Esbenshade Sr. and Harry H. Esbenshade Jr., husband and son, respectively, of the late Mrs. Esbenshade of Uniontown, Pennsylvania.
