In just a few weeks, Dyson Baudo Recreation Center will transform into a concert venue to welcome the brilliant and powerful singer, songwriter and musician, Amythyst Kiah, as the first performer of the 2021-22 Esbenshade Series. The concert is set for 3:00 p.m. Sunday, November 14th in the College’s recreation center.
Because the College is mindful of everyone’s health and safety, Marietta will continue the mandate for properly wearing facemasks indoors while on campus, as well as requiring proof of COVID-19 vaccination for anyone inside the venue. The doors will open 45 minutes prior to the free concert, and vaccination cards will be checked prior to admittance.
Kiah, who recently performed her song, “Black Myself” on Jimmy Kimmel Live!, released her third album — “Wary + Strange” — this year, following her 2017 release of “Her Chest of Glass” and her 2013 release of “Dig.”
“We are excited to welcome Amythyst to Dyson Baudo for our first Esbenshade concert,” said Tanya Wilder, Director of the Esbenshade Series. “It is an incredible honor to be able to provide our community with such an incredibly moving and talented performer — and it is possible thanks to the Esbenshade family.”
The Esbenshade Series is funded by the Frederica G. Esbenshade Memorial Fund, which provides annual income for the purpose of bringing lectures, performing artists, and programs of diverse nature to the campus and community at large. The endowed Frederica G. Esbenshade Fund was established in 1980 by Harry H. Esbenshade Sr. and Harry H. Esbenshade Jr., husband and son, respectively, of the late Mrs. Esbenshade of Uniontown, Pennsylvania. All events are free and open to the public.
