Marietta College’s Office of Campus Involvement recently announced several awards for student organizations and Greek Life, including Student Organization of the Year and the Chapter of the Year.
The Gardening Club, which boasts close to 50 members, was named the Student Organization of the Year. This award honors the student organization that exhibits a high commitment to improving campus life. The organization shows unity within the membership, produces strong programming for the campus, and excels at leadership.
Chi Omega sorority was named the Greek Chapter of the Year. Chi Omega has been active on campus since 1923. This award honors the accomplishments of an organization in the Greek community. The chapter receiving this award shows effective self-governance, embodies the values of the Marietta College Greek System, promotes leadership and student learning, and/or models social justice and service.
Audrey Albright ’21 (Moraine, Ohio) was named the Greek Woman of the Year, while Alex Dimon ’21 (Perkasie, Pennsylvania) was named the Greek Man of the Year.
Albright, who graduates on Saturday, May 1, with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Marketing, is a member of the Sigma Kappa sorority. The Greek Woman of the Year award recognizes seniors who, as a member of the Greek community, have gone above and beyond to serve and better the Greek Community. This award recognizes individuals who are positive representatives of their chapter and/or the Greek Community and who have excelled in the areas of community service/philanthropy, Greek involvement, and academics.
Dimon, also graduates Saturday and will earn a Bachelor of Science degree in Petroleum Engineering, is a member of the Lambda Chi Alpha fraternity. The Greek Man of the Year award recognizes graduating seniors who, as a member of the Greek community, have gone above and beyond to serve and better the Greek Community. This award recognizes individuals who are positive representatives of their chapter and/or the Greek Community and who have excelled in the areas of community service/philanthropy, Greek involvement, and academics.
Another Greek award is Living the Ritual, which is given to the member who exemplifies their chapter’s values and principles and encourages others to do the same. The 2021 winner is Delta Tau Delta’s Chasten Coleman ’23 (Yadkinville, North Carolina).
The final Greek honor is for the Outstanding Greek Advisor Award, which is awarded to the advisor who not only has enhanced the chapter they work with, but also the Marietta College community through their service. This year’s winner is Nathan Bradley from Lambda Chi Alpha. Bradley is a Technical Director in the Theatre Department.
Elliot Dodd, Assistant Director of Campus Activities and New Student On-Boarding, was named the Student Organization Advisor of the Year for his work with Pioneer Activities Council. This is awarded to the individual who has demonstrated outstanding service as an advisor to a Marietta College student organization, a strong working relationship with the group's membership, and active participation in the group’s meetings and activities.
