Biography

Sarah Long rejoined Marietta College as Director of Philanthropy in February 2025. In this role, she works with the Advancement team to strategically plan and advocate for the future of the college. Sarah oversees the Philanthropy Officers and provides direction for Planned Giving, Major Giving and Corporate Sponsorship. As a part of the philanthropy team, Sarah connects the Long Blue Line back to campus and matches passion with need at this historic institution.

Sarah has over six years of experience in philanthropy work; prior to this role, she worked as a Director of Development at Ohio University as well a a Major Gift Officer then Assistant Director of Major Giving at Marietta College. Sarah is interested in the intersection between non-profits, institutions of higher education, and leadership for community development and sees colleges and universities as community hubs and places to understand the past, address the present and work towards the future.

Sarah has worked in a multitude of nonprofits and museums as well as the Multicultural Center at Indiana University Indianapolis, where she oversaw a scholars leadership program, planned campus- wide events and taught college readiness.

Sarah is passionate about removing barriers for community and individual success, empowering students and young individuals to pursue their passion, and connecting individuals around similar desires and topics. Sarah's top 5 values are community, collaboration, authenticity, equity and growth. She loves all outdoors pursuits, traveling, creating and reading. She lives in downtown Marietta, Ohio with her husband Chris '15 and her daughter Isla as well as her two dogs.
