Biography

R. Scott Rieder is an Adjunct Professor in Marietta's Music Department, and serves as the director of both the Concert Choir and Contemporary A Cappella Ensemble, Floodstage.  Scott holds both a Bachelor of Music and Master of Music in Music Education from Kent State University in Kent, OH.  In addition to these degrees, Scott has several additional hours of graduate studies at both Baldwin Wallace Conservatory of Music and Capital University Conservatory of Music.
 
Scott has served as the director of various academic and youth ensembles.  He is currently the Director of Choirs at Marietta High School in Marietta, OH, where he directs the Cantabile Choir, Treble Chorus, Bass Chorus, Mixed Chorus, two handbell ensembles, and the contemporary a cappella ensemble, Vocal Point.  These choirs have earned numerous accolades and awards  including mainstage performances at Kettering National A Cappella Festival, as well as a Gold Rating and Adjudicators Award at the Heritage Music Festival in New York City.  Most recently, all three curricular choirs at Marietta High School were awarded with Superior ratings at the OMEA State Large Group contest in 2024. 
 
Scott also serves as an adjudicator for OMEA, and as the coordinator for the District IX OMEA Honor Choir event.  He served as the middle school clinician for District IX OMEA Honor Choir, in 2018.  Scott lives in Marietta with his wife and two children.
