Congratulations on your acceptance to Marietta College! We are very proud of the tradition of excellence at MC and are excited to offer you the opportunity to join the Pioneer family. If you are ready to officially secure your spot at Marietta College, please use this Accepted Student Checklist to guide you through the process. Of course, we are here if you have questions. Step One: Become a Pioneer!
Ready to join the Marietta College family? Submitting your $200 enrollment deposit will secure your spot in the incoming class. There are a few ways to submit your deposit.
- Submit your deposit* one of three ways:
- Deposit online
- Deposit over the phone: +1-740-376-4619, Student Accounts
- The enrollment deposit will be applied to your student account the first semester you are enrolled. Please refer to your acceptance letter or financial aid package, where you'll find your MC Student ID number, which is required to complete the enrollment commitment form
- Deposit can be made via Wire Transfer. Please contact Student Accounts for information at mcbill@marietta.edu
*Enrollment deposits are non-refundable after May 1
Step Two: Get Your Immigration Documents
Your I-20 (for F-1 Students)/DS-2019 (for J-1 students) document will be processed and mailed to you once you follow these steps:
- New First Time Freshman: send us a mailing address in your home country that can receive Fed Ex/DHL packages and a phone number for the address. You must also send us official test scores and WES certified transcripts after your high school graduation.
- Transfer Students (currently at a US institution): Complete a Marietta College transfer release form with your current DSO’s signature and your program end date. We cannot give you an I-20 for Marietta College without these form. Please also send WES certified transcripts from your high school and universities outside of the United States, and official transcripts from your current US institution.
Step Three: Pay Your SEVIS I-901 Fee
This fee is required for all new international students and must be done on-line. Use fmjfee.com
to make your payment. Transfer students who complete the transfer-in clearance form will not need to pay this fee again.
Step Four: Make a Visa Appointment
You will need to schedule an appointment with the US consulate or embassy to obtain a US F-1 or J-1 student visa. You cannot make an appointment without paying the I-901 fee (see step 3).
Step Five: Set Up Your Marietta College Email
We expect students to check their Marietta College emails at least once a day for important information about academics, programs, and safety. We will ONLY communicate with you via this account once you are a student, so this email must be activated before you arrive. To set up your email account, click here.
We will send you additional information closer to the start of term with specific arrival and orientation information.
Step Six: Living on Campus at Marietta College
Living on campus can be one of the most rewarding aspects of the college experience. As a residential community, we develop our distinctive ethos, our dedication to the whole student and affirm the independence between life inside and outside of the classroom. International Students will be placed with students in one of our Residence Halls. Please log on to the Residence Page to review the Housing Contract and agree to our terms and conditions. Step Seven: New International Student Orientation
This orientation is mandatory for all new international students and occurs a few days before the first-year HOME program. International Student Orientation details will be communicated to you in early summer. Your point of contact is the Office of Education Abroad, cb002@marietta.edu, 740.376.4708.

Step Eight: Purchase Your Books
Once you’ve registered for classes, you can purchase your textbooks and other course materials using Marietta College’s eCampus Bookstore.
This is an online bookstore, and no physical bookstore exists on campus, so you’ll need to use eCampus or another on-line vendor to purchase your textbooks and course materials.
You can have your textbooks and course materials delivered to your home address (make sure deliveries are scheduled to arrive prior to your departure for campus). Alternatively, you can have your purchases delivered to campus and pick them up when you arrive. If you order your items from eCampus and have them shipped to campus rather than your home address, they’ll be available for pick-up in the Pioneer Team Store in upper Gilman. If you order items from another vendor and have them shipped to campus rather than a home address, they will be available for pick-up through the College’s Mailroom in upper Gilman.
In order to purchase textbooks and course materials through Marietta College’s eCampus Bookstore, you’ll need to have your course schedule in front of you.
To find your course schedule:
- Login to MyMarietta using your MC credentials (username and password).
- Select ‘WebAdvisor for Students’ on the left side of the page.
- Select ‘Academic Profile’ and then ‘My class schedule.’
- Under the drop-down menu for ‘Term,’ select the appropriate semester and hit ‘Submit.’
With your class schedule in front of you, go to the Marietta College eCampus Bookstore website.
To purchase your books:
- Use the ‘Textbooks’ drop-down menu on the upper left side of the page to select ‘Order.’
- Use the drop-down menu in the top center of the page to select the appropriate term (e.g., Fall 2023).
- Use your course schedule to enter the Department, Course, and Section for each of your classes.
- Click the ‘Find Materials for Course(s)’ button at the bottom of the page.
- For each item, select your preferred purchasing option.
- Proceed to checkout.
Step Nine: What Should I Bring to Campus?
These are merely suggestions. Please feel free to contact the Office of Education Abroad if you have any questions.
- Personal items
The most important items you can pack in your suitcase are those that help us know you and your culture better! The Office of Education Abroad encourages you to bring with you the following:
- Traditional clothing items
- Musical instruments
- Photos of your family and your hometown
- Photos of you as a baby or young child
- Any small trinkets, artifacts or gifts that you may want to share with others
- Day-to-day items
- Prescription and other medicines or personal hygiene products you use regularly
- Appropriate clothing -- it is hot in Marietta in August (if arriving for the fall semester) and very cold in January (if arriving in the spring)
- Good walking shoes -- we will be doing a lot of walking around town
- Laptop computer, if you own one
- Converters for any electronic items you bring -- you will need this to use your laptops, etc.
- What to buy when you arrive
- Alarm clock
- Desk lamp
- Quilt/blanket
- Toiletries such as soap, shampoo, shaving gel, perfume
- School supplies such as notebooks, paper, pens, stapler
- Laundry basket, detergent, clothes hangers, etc.
- Extra clothing
- Tea kettle

The “A” Game
July 26 – August 4
Self-paced
Description: This mini virtual course offering is based on the book of the same name that discusses the 9 Deadly Habits That Lead to Poor Performance In College and the Strategies to Help Combat Them. This course is self-paced and takes 2-3 hours to complete in its entirety. The course is facilitated by Marietta College current students, staff and faculty. Not only will participants engage with MC personnel but the course will provide an opportunity for participants to engage with other new MC students. The course includes some activities and videos and is designed to be fun yet educational. Participants will have one week to complete the work upon registration.

Description: Facilitated by Spencer Thorn, this virtual session offering frames the college experience as a heroic journey, encouraging students to embrace challenges as growth opportunities with the goal of building resilience, excitement, and meaning into the trials of college. Key topics: Understand the basic narrative framework, Face challenges as growth opportunities, and identify potential allies and mentors they may encounter on campus. Students will reflect on their thoughts about starting a new adventure. Q&A will be offered at the end of the session.
Navigating College with a Learning Disability

Description: Facilitated by Lindsay Morgan, this short virtual session offering will guide students through how to utilize academic resources throughout campus and our dedicated Academic Resource Center (ARC). Additionally, the session will feature constructive ways on how students can improve overall Executive Functioning.
Balancing the Chaos and Order of College
Thursday, August 1
6:30-7:30 p.m.
Description: Facilitated by Spencer Thorn, this virtual session offering will help students understand the importance of balancing spontaneity with structure to create a harmonious and fulfilling college experience. Common sources of college chaos include, meeting new people, living away from parents, new lifestyles, uncertain future, parties, new professors, etc. Common sources of Order in College include: regularly scheduled classes, Assignment due dates, parental expectations, academic obligations, Career decisions, sleep, sports/club teams, campus rules etc. These common factors will be brainstormed, how to balance them will be explored, and basic time-management skills will be discussed. Q&A will be offered at the end of the session.

Description: Facilitated by Lindsay Morgan, this short virtual session offering will discuss various concerns common amongst parents of first time freshman students and helpful strategies during the transition to college.
Good Stress, Bad Stress & Recreation
Wednesday, August 7
6:30-7:30 p.m.
Description: Facilitated by Spencer Thorn, this virtual session offering will teach students how to recognize their current stress levels. Emphasizing the fact that there is healthy stress, called Eustress that motivates us to perform well and strive toward our goals, but if taken to excess, can cause MH and physical symptoms. Additionally, the topic of relaxation and recreation will be explored as a way of managing stress levels. Students will brainstorm ideas for leisure, and critically think about how they might incorporate those activities into their college schedule. Q&A will be offered at the end of the session.
Esports Game Night
Thursday, August 8
7:00-9:00 p.m.
Description: Facilitated by Matthew Williamson, this virtual event is an opportunity for new students to engage with one another using Jackbox games and promises to be fun experience!
