Our Department
The Department of Mathematics and Computer Science offers four major programs: Actuarial Science, Computer Science, Information Systems, and Mathematics.
Our Faculty
While each faculty member is an expert in our field, we are at Marietta College because we are passionate about teaching and working with students. We have the skills and experience to prepare our students for successful careers after graduating from Marietta College, but we also are committed to caring for our students and helping them succeed inside the classroom while they are here. We meet with students regularly in our offices, and we work to create a community atmosphere by providing food during Final Exam week, hosting picnics in the fall and spring, and competing against students in an escape game. Our faculty are active in professional organizations, including the Mathematical Association of America (MAA) and the Association for Computing Machinery (ACM). Faculty and students regularly participate in regional and national conferences.
Our Students
Our students are motivated, enthusiastic, responsible and hard-working. They come from across the U.S. and around the world. Our students constantly bring life to our community by organizing Halloween departmental dress-ups, running exam study sessions, and serving as lab assistants for our Pre-Calculus and Calculus classes. Many students choose to do research projects as part of their academic course of study. Thanks to the generosity of our donors, students are often able to secure funding that supports their research and their participation in academic conferences.
Our Alumni
The Marietta College Department of Mathematics and Computer Science is incredibly proud of our alumni.
