There is a thriving academic community in the United States focusing on leadership and civic engagement. Through key partnerships, McDonough Scholars have an opportunity to expand their knowledge of leadership and practice their leadership skills.

  • The New York Times: McDonough participates in the newspaper educational initiatives (nytimesineducation.com). McDonough incorporates the newspaper into its core curriculum.

  • Peoples Bank: Every year, Peoples Bank organizes an Undergraduate Business Case Competition on the Marietta College campus. This two-day event, co-hosted by McDonough, allows undergraduate students from different institutions to come to Marietta and compete for the $1,500 prize. McDonough works closely with the bank staff in planning this competition.

  • United States Naval Academy (Annapolis, Maryland): Every year, the McDonough Center is invited to send leadership students to the Academy’s Leadership Conference and the Foreign Affairs Conference (NAFAC). Through these conferences, McDonough Scholars gain a deeper understanding of leadership and get to interact with undergraduate leadership students from other institutions.

  • Ohio Campus Compact (OCC): OCC is a statewide nonprofit coalition of 46 colleges and universities working to promote and develop the civic purposes of higher education. According to the organization's Website (www.ohiocampuscompact.org), OCC's mission is "To provide statewide leadership in mobilizing resources, services, and partnerships that strengthen Ohio colleges and universities’ capacity to educate students for civic and social responsibility and to improve community life." McDonough serves as the main OCC partner on the Marietta College campus.
