Mounds of Marietta and Beyond: Native American culture Earth to Sky — a performance by Lawrence Green

Lawrence Green will present “Mounds of Marietta and Beyond: Native American culture Earth to Sky" in The Gathering Place at 6:00 p.m. November 7.  When settlers came to Marietta, the first European city founded in the Ohio territory, they would have noticed the large earthworks at the convergence of the Ohio and Muskingum Rivers and other places nearby. Today very few people know about the advanced Native American cultures that farmed this land, mapped the sky and left behind earthworks. Green , an Artsbridge catalog artist, will be talking about the Mounds of Marietta, the intellectual property of indigenous people and the other mounds in the region. He has taught drumming for more than 20 years.
