Marietta College is pleased to welcome Dr. Elaine Buckberg, Senior Fellow at the Salata Institute for Climate and Sustainability at Harvard University, on campus for the 2024 Milton Friedman Lecture on Monday, January 29. The presentation begins at 7:00 p.m. in the Alma McDonough Auditorium.

Dr. Buckberg has a distinguished background spanning the public and private sectors. Most recently, she served as Chief Economist of General Motors from 2018-23. At GM, she provided economic analysis and advice on competitive and policy issues, with a focus on forecasting auto segments and analyzing EV adoption.

Prior to GM, Dr. Buckberg was Deputy Assistant Secretary for Policy Coordination at the U.S. Treasury Department under the Obama administration. She advised the Treasury Secretary on domestic policies, including infrastructure, housing, and financial reform. At Treasury, Dr. Buckberg spearheaded the Build America Investment Initiative on infrastructure financing.

She also held senior roles at The Brattle Group consultancy and NERA Economic Consulting, providing expert testimony and analysis. Dr. Buckberg began her career as an Economist at the IMF after earning her Ph.D. in Economics from MIT.
