In the days since the tragic mass shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida, high school students around the U.S. are exercising their right to peaceful protest. There are other demonstrations and school walkouts that are scheduled.
Marietta College fully supports the actions of our prospective students to stand up for what they believe in, as long as the support for being agents of change involves peaceful and productive discourse. We want to be clear that a student's admission decision would never be negatively affected by any disciplinary action a high school may take as a result of their involvement in peaceful awareness demonstrations. Our holistic Admission review benefits this type of freedom of expression, involvement and the courage it takes to stand up for one's beliefs.
