Marietta College’s Edward E. MacTaggart Department of Music is pleased to announce that its Chapter of the National Association for Music Education Collegiate was recently recognized at the Ohio Music Education Association Professional Development Conference as a Gold Standard Chapter for Music Education.
The certificate was presented at the conference in recognition of meeting a series of expectations for the award. The categories included attendance at the professional development conference, attendance at the fall conference, fundraising, community outreach with music, involvement in the Music in Our Schools Month, along with others. The Gold Standard Chapter was awarded to only four other music education chapters in the state.
“The Music Education majors at Marietta College are an extremely focused and hardworking group of pre-professional music education students,” said Marshall C. Kimball, Music Department Chairman and chapter advisor for the music education organization. “I am pleased that these students were recognized for their hard work and their efforts to further their education and their advocacy and musical skills. This recognition let the students know that their efforts have been noticed and appreciated. I am happy for the members who have worked so hard to achieve this award.”
