Mary Korn ’82, who has more than 25 years of experience as CFO/COO working with public and private technology and consumer products companies, will speak to the Economic Roundtable of the Ohio Valley at noon, Tuesday, April 16th, at the Parkersburg Country Club.
Korn, who serves on Marietta College’s Board of Trustees, will speak about “Blockchain: Hype vs. Real.”
Korn’s focus is on venture capital-backed technology companies that have a SaaS business model in the healthcare IT, fintech, mobile, and new media industries. She has raised hundreds of millions in equity and debt financings for companies and created in excess of $1 billion in value for shareholders through exits.
Most recently, she sold Ustream to IBM. Other exits were sales to Intuit, Alcatel, and Electroglas (now Synopsys). She has raised funds from venture capital, private equity, corporate venture capital, and economic development bank sources.
Korn also serves as an advisor to early and late-stage companies, advising on BI strategy, business and product strategy, sales structure and compensation, culture and hiring, with an emphasis on guiding the company through key inflection points of growth. Her experience includes managing global teams and she has operating experience in Hungary, India, Japan, Kenya, Nigeria, Singapore, South Africa, and the United Kingdom.
She has an MBA from Santa Clara University, a CPA license, and holds a certificate in International Finance Reporting Standards. She earned a Bachelor of Arts in Finance at Marietta College in 1982.
Korn will also be featured at the April 15th Leadership Q&A. It starts at 7:00 p.m. in the Timothy O. Cooper Auditorium.
The Economic Roundtable of the Ohio Valley is a non-partisan non-political educational organization that formed in 1982 as a result of collaboration between the Business and Economics Department at Marietta College and a mix of business, civic and educational leaders.
