Greek life at Marietta College is as good as gold.
Alpha Sigma Phi was recently presented with the Gold Cup Award, the highest accolade given each year at the fraternity’s national convention.
From July 11th-14th, the Elevate International Leadership Conference gathered in Phoenix, Arizona, where four Marietta College fraternity brothers were honored to accept the award on behalf of their Delta Chapter.
“Winning the cup has been an insanely rewarding phenomenon,” Trent Anthony ’22 said. “I whole-heartedly believe that we deserve it. Nowhere else have I been able to experience working with such great, motivated guys to better serve our community.”
To reach Gold Cup status, chapters must attain at least 95 percent of the possible points of their Annual Report. It’s an achievement that marks exceptional recognition and strong standing as an Alpha Sigma Phi chapter.
After compiling a collection of Bronze and Silver merits over the past few years, this year marks the first time that Marietta’s Alpha Sigs received the Gold Cup. The trophy adds to the long history of the Delta Chapter of Alpha Sigma Phi, which was first chartered at Marietta College in 1860.
From 1864 until 1993, Marietta College was home to the oldest continuously active chapter of Alpha Sigma Phi in the nation. Following its disbanding in 1993, a 20-year hiatus ensued before officially the chapter was rechartered in 2013.
Since then, the Marietta fraternity has seen great success, winning national awards of distinction for seven straight years. Their performance is particularly high in fundraising for philanthropies, community service participation, and interacting with the alumni network.
The College’s Delta Chapter has been growing and thriving in its newest era, striding forward to see out its vision: “To better the world through better men.”
