  •  17th overall Best Midwestern Colleges Division (94 colleges ranked)

Wall Street Journal/Pulse 2025 Rankings

  • 289th nationally (out of 1,700+ eligible colleges and universities)

Academics

  • 97 students completed Summer & Fall Internships 
  • 13 students had Study Abroad Experiences — 12 of them were supported by the Ronald ’72 and Simin Shelton Rinard International Travel Grants Program. Students traveled to Greece, Ireland, the Netherlands, Italy, England, Scotland, Australia and Spain.
  • Air Force/Space Force ROTC program welcomes with 1st Cadet 
  • Teacher Education program received CAEP preliminary report listing no Areas of Improvement or stipulations.
  • The 2024-255 Esbenshade Series — made possible by the Frederica G. Esbenshade Memorial Fund — includes Grammy Award-winning artist, Loudon Wainwright III, slated for October 23.
  • All Scholars Day 2024 includes 102 poster presentations and nearly 60 oral presentations
  • 216 students participated in the 2024 Commencement Ceremony
  • Marietta’s Physician Assistant Studies Graduate Program graduated 34 students 

Student Success

  • Four students received Career Development Summer Experiential Education Grants, made possible by generous gifts during the College’s 2024 Day of Giving Campaign. 
  • Thanks to the generosity of donors willing to establish endowed gifts, nine students received Experiential Education Summer Awards. These endowed gifts include: the Danielle L. Cisler ’05 Internship Award, the Howsmon-Keyes Experiential Education Award, the Nancy Dare Luce ’76 Experiential Learning Award, the Robert E. Evans Internship Award, and the Thrash-Henderson Mathematics Experiential Education Award.
  • The Big Blue nonprofit thrift store celebrated its 2nd anniversary and now provides Entrepreneurship internships to students in any major.
  • Petroleum Engineering students are planning the 2024 Energy Technical Exhibition on October 18, which invites representatives from the energy industry to campus and connects them with students from all majors who may be looking for internships or job opportunities.

Awards & Donor Support

  • McDonough received an INSPIRE Grant through the Appalachian Regional Commission to support leadership development for people in substance abuse recovery.
  • NonProfits LEAD received the West Virginia Spirit of Philanthropy Award for work in the Mid-Ohio Valley.
  • Marietta College Police Department received a $150,000 Nonprofit Security Grant through Ohio EMA to improve campus’s camera and card reader systems.
  • McDonough selected for the ARC’s Appalachian Collegiate Research Initiative for a project focusing on “Assessing Rural Healthcare Workforce Needs.” Marietta received a grant that will enable students to conduct this research.
  • Marietta College Day of Giving 2024 celebrates record-breaking support, with $403,176 raised within 24 hours.
  • Emeritus Trustee Joe Chlapaty H’10 and his wife, Linda Chlapaty, impact student recruitment and learning experiences with a $500,000 donation.

Greek Life

  • Alpha Xi Delta House re-opens
  • ATO recognized with the prestigious True Merit Award during 2024 Biennial ATO Congress
  • Delta Tau Delta receives Court of Honor Award during a regional conference

Athletics

  • Men’s Rower named 2024 Empacher IRCA All-American
  • Two men’s rowers named 2024 Empacher IRCA Scholar Athletes
  • Men’s Rowing Coach named Dad Vail Coach of the Year
  • Two Pioneer Soccer student-athletes earn OCSA Academic All-Ohio honors
  •  Women’s Basketball earn a place on the Women’s Basketball Coaches Association Academic Team Honor Roll (3rd straight year)
  • 11 Softball players named Easton/National Fastpitch Coaches Association All-America Scholar-Athletes
  • 37 Pioneers named to Spring Academic All-OAC Honor Roll

Financial Aid

  • MC Pell Promise was established for qualified new students starting Fall 2025 and Spring 2026.
