Your Guide to Financial Assistance.
Our approach to financial assistance is simple: We want to make Marietta College affordable to every qualified student who desires to attend. A high-quality, private education is expensive to provide, and we will expect you to pay your fair share of its cost. However, we are a willing partner with you in making Marietta possible. Each year we commit more than $28 million of our funds to financial assistance. Our program is extensive and includes merit-based scholarships; federal, state, and Marietta College need-based grants; state and federal loans; and student work-study.

How To Apply for Financial Aid
Marietta College's Office of Student Financial Services is pleased to offer a guide to serve as your roadmap through the financial aid process. Our guide includes everything you need to know to apply for financial aid at Marietta College.
Scholarships & Grants
Scholarships are awarded for outstanding academic achievement, extracurricular activities, or community service. Marietta offers a variety of scholarship opportunities. Many private companies and foundations also provide scholarships for which you may be eligible.
When you submit your application for admission, you'll automatically be considered for merit scholarships and awards. These awards are based on your high school GPA and standardized test scores. You will be notified of your award at the time of admission.
Grants are considered gift aid that does not have to be repaid. Marietta College grants and endowed awards are distributed based on individual student need. The College funds these gifts through our endowment, alumni, gifts, and other income. We use the FAFSA Estimated Family Contribution (EFC) to determine the student's need.
Loans
Few students can afford to pay for college without some form of education loan. A loan is a form of financial aid that must be repaid. You will automatically be considered fo Federal Stafford loans based on your FAFSA information. Education loans come in three major categories: Federal Stafford Student Loans, Federal PLUS Loans, and Private/Alternative Loans.
Billing and Payment Policies
The Student Accounts Office is a component of the Office of Accounting and Business Services at Marietta College. Its staff assists with tuition, payment options, refunds, and student-related charges and fees.
Special Circumstances Appeal
The Office of Student Financial Services is aware that a family's financial circumstances may change, which may affect your and your family’s ability to contribute toward your education. Our office can help address this issue and assist families who have experienced a significant change in income and/or resources.
Return of Title IV Funds Policy
Federal regulations specify how Marietta College must determine the amount of Title IV program assistance that you earn if you withdraw from school. The Title IV programs that are covered by this law are Federal Pell Grants, Iraq and Afghanistan Service Grants, TEACH Grants, Direct Loans, Direct PLUS Loans, and Federal Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grants (FSEOGs).
