Psychology research presented at Chicago conference.

Five Marietta College psychology students and their faculty mentors presented research in Chicago on April 10 to 12, at the 96th Annual Meeting of the Midwestern Psychological Association (MPA). With more than 3,000 attendees, the convention is one of the largest regional psychology conferences in the U.S.

Students Rachel Guilliams and Alyssa Mays presented a poster with faculty mentor, Dr. Charles Doan, titled, “Believing is seeing: Relations between eye-tracking and uncertain feature inference.”

Ava Kazmierczak and Mia Wiggs presented a poster with faculty mentor, Dr. Kristi Barnes, titled, “The complexities of Appalachian identity: Attitudes and student outcomes.”

Maddy Muntz presented a poster with faculty mentors, Dr. Mark Sibicky and Dr. Charles Doan, titled “Impressions of mental health counselor job applicants with tattoos.”

Dr. Chris Stockus gave an oral presentation titled, “Do growth mindsets reduce the big-fish-little-pond effect?”

In addition to the opportunity to share their psychological research with colleagues, the group toured The Art Institute of Chicago.
