Academic Achievement
To recognize academic achievement, the College has also
established the following academic honors:
- Dean's List. Any full-time student completing at
least 15 credit hours with a grade point average of 3.00 to
3.49* in a given semester.
- Dean's High Honors List. Any full-time student
completing at least 15 credit hours with a grade point
average of 3.50 or higher* in a given semester.
- Phi Beta Kappa. Founded in 1776 at the College of William and Mary, Phi Beta Kappa has evolved to become the
nation's leading advocate for the liberal arts and sciences
at the undergraduate level. It is an honor society of great
distinction that recognizes students, usually in their senior
year, who demonstrate outstanding academic achievement.
Marietta's chapter is the 16th-oldest in the nation.
- Degrees with Distinction. The student who
completes his or her course of study with a high record will
be recommended for a degree with distinction. Summa Cum Laude
(3.90 - 4.00 cumulative grade point average), Magna Cum Laude
(3.75 - 3.899 cumulative grade point average), or Cum Laude
(3.50 - 3.749 cumulative grade point average).
